Welcome to the Academic Session 2023-24.
It’s indeed a blessing and an honour to introduce myself as the new Principal of DPS Navi Mumbai. I personally feel blissful and fortunate to be an integral part of this organization, which I trust will make a difference. I believe broadly in sharing leadership as an ‘orchestral leader’ to help large teams to produce a coherent sound while encouraging soloists to shine. True leadership is not about superiority, position or prestige. It is about revealing and releasing the potential of those around us. My aim will be to influence and inspire others by innovation and action, motivated by a purpose, generated by a passion and produced by a vision.
DPS Navi Mumbai provides a congenial and serene atmosphere for learning to its students, who make the optimum use of the building and infrastructure provided to them, away from the congestion of city life. Many factors have played a vital role in the creation of this epitome of quality education. The vision of the pioneers; the total involvement of the mentors from the DPS Society, supportive parents and an unmatched and dedicated faculty. These characteristics have placed DPS Navi Mumbai at the forefront of the educational map of India and the world.
Rightly quoted, “It is good to have an end to the journey, but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” The contribution of the DPS Society in universal educational enhancement and its endeavour to build a democratic, pluralistic and secular nation has made all the difference. It is no more a question of lighting a candle; it is an attempt at total electrification. The entire world has begun to glow with the light of literacy radiated by the Delhi Public School Society.
Our motto “Service before Self’ is a vivid reflection of the mettle that goes into the making of this magnanimous institution. At DPS Navi Mumbai, it is our quest to regulate an amiable and intellectually challenging environment for our young friends. We envision to produce global citizens through shared collaboration and commitment. Our academic fraternity possess the magic of igniting a fire in the lives of others and developing an intense curiosity. They understand that every child loves differently, learns differently, and heals differently. They build bridges that develop authentic, meaningful and long-lasting relationships.
I insist upon brilliance, take risks, model what I expect and empower others to enhance instructional practices. I believe in healthy competition, robust collaboration, consistency, credibility and integrity. I remain passionate about creating unique traditions and empowering student and staff voice. Therefore, with new projects and initiatives, students will have access to more resources and opportunities than ever before. We are now on the cusp of a new era of learning where students can explore their passion and develop their skills achieving 360 degree growth and development with the right support and guidance.
On behalf of the School Management and staff, I extend a hearty welcome to all our stakeholders to the new academic session. Please feel free to forward your valuable inputs in the greater interest of our students. Let’s always keep our children the primary focus of our work and empower them to achieve their highest potential in their journey of educational excellence. The aim behind all our endeavours at DPS, Nerul is to teach our students to self-propel through difficulties and challenges that come their way. The Senior Wing of DPS, Nerul attempts the development of our young minds into well integrated wholesome personalities through conscious, continuous and comprehensive monitoring and mentorship. Creativity and sensitivity are also nurtured and emphasis is laid on “learning by doing”, on experimentation, innovation and free-sharing of ideas. Our teachers are not mere dispensers of knowledge but mediators and facilitators who impart true education that directs students towards new consciousness for the future.
We live in a world that is so very different from the one we grew up in and the one we were educated in. The world today is changing at such an accelerated rate that we, as educators, need to pause and reflect on the entire system. Are our schools well equipped to prepare our children to face the challenges that the future holds? Are we doing well enough to create not just ‘job-seekers’ but ‘job-creators’? Questions such as these are what motivate us to go through a continuous process of reflection to ensure that the children who walk into the portals of the Primary and Middle Wings will not just love their school years but be truly prepared to face life’s challenges.
It was Margaret Mead who said that children must be taught how to think and not what to think. The Primary Wing functions along this principle. Our mission is to instil in our students independence of thought, integrity and values. All our activities and enterprises are designed to give our students the best platforms for both intellectual and emotional growth.
A well-polished set of soft skills play a very important role in the success of an individual. For ages, educators have had their undivided attention to the honing of occupational skills. But, we live in unprecedented times making it necessary to devise action plans and goals that cater to the needs of the learners of the 21st century. In the Middle Wing, besides rigorous scholastic programmes, we seek to develop and nurture the different facets of a child. We encourage all students to participate in a host of curricular and co-curricular activities-from art, dance, drama and public speaking to a variety of sports and games.
The Foundational Wing at Delhi Public School, Navi Mumbai provides a safe, warm and friendly atmosphere for nurturing the child’s social, emotional and cognitive needs. We aspire to motivate and encourage students to feed their curiosity and explore limitless possibilities.
